Moalia today become the latest partners in the Global Tuna Alliance (GTA), an independent group of retailers and supply-chain companies, working to ensure that tuna ultimately meets the highest standards of environmental performance and social responsibility
Established in 1994, Moalia supplies sashimi quality line-caught yellowfin and bigeye tuna from Sri Lanka and Maldives to 8 European countries.
J-F Bodin, General Manager at Moalia said “we are very excited to be part of the program and to join an organization that represents our values. At Moalia we have been promoting and supplying small scale fishing tuna for the past 25 years or so and we believe in preserving worldwide tuna stocks by using hand-line and small-scale fishing. As an EU fresh tuna importer/distributor to wholesalers and supermarkets we are looking forward to bring our modest experience and knowledge to the sustainability table and eager to learn from the GTA in order to ameliorate our company and partners’ standards.”
Dr Tom Pickerell, Executive Director at the Global Tuna Alliance, said: “We are delighted to welcome Moalia to the Partnership. Moalia are our first Spanish members which is significant as Spain is such an important tuna producer and marketplace.
